Frequently Asked Questions

The Affordable Connectivity Program is a federal initiative created to help households with limited income afford reliable internet service. Eligible families can receive a monthly credit of up to $30 toward broadband, and households on qualifying Tribal lands may receive up to $75. Participants can also get a one-time discount of up to $100 toward a laptop, desktop, or tablet if they contribute $10–$50 toward the purchase. Only one monthly service discount and one device discount are available per household.

The Lifeline program, established in 1985 by the FCC, offers eligible low-income individuals discounted phone services. Unlike ACP, which focuses on internet access, Lifeline provides reduced-cost voice and text services. In some cases, a household may qualify for both programs if permitted by the provider.

Providing the last four digits of your Social Security Number helps confirm your eligibility and prevent fraud. This information, combined with proof of program participation or income verification, ensures benefits go only to qualified applicants. All personal data is treated confidentially.

  • You must recertify your eligibility once every year to continue receiving service.
  • Service may be deactivated if recertification is not completed within the specified window.
  • Lifeline and ACP benefits are limited to one per household and are non-transferable.

Once your application is approved, an email will be sent containing your confirmation and shipping tracking information.

Device types vary by provider and availability. Most phones offered through the program are Android, though some programs provide iPhones. All devices come equipped with essential features to support calls, texting, and internet access.

Fill out the application form and submit the required documentation, which may include:

  • Proof of enrollment in qualifying programs (e.g., Medicaid, SNAP)
  • Income verification documents such as pay stubs, tax returns, or benefits statements
  • Last four digits of your Social Security Number for verification
